– General Description: PROJECT Trio is a chamber music ensemble comprised of three composer/performers from Brooklyn, NY who blend their classical training (Cleveland Institute of Music) with musical styles which include classical, gypsy, jazz, and Brazilian. This is PROJECT Trio's sixth recording. A nice mix of ideas. – Musicians: Peter Seymour - double bass Greg Pattillo - flute, beat-box Eric Stephenson - cello – FCC Compliant: YES – Recommended Tracks: 2, 4 – Track Reviews: 1. (2:59) Hungarian Dance No 5 - fun and inviting, then a little blues arrangement is thrown in for more fun (Brahms) 2. ***(4:40) DJangish - swinging, old Broadway feel, breathy flute playing, middle of song slows then gradually picks up speed again 3. (2:29) 99 Mondays - more experimental sounding with flute acting as strobe over long bowed tones 4. ***(4:51) 2against3 - moderate pace; flute over plucked strings, song slows with bowed lines last 3rd then gradually picks up speed again 5. (3:41) Sloeberry Jam - moderate; has a Johnny Hartford feel that moves to more progressive rock 6. (3:13) Andre De Sapato Novo - fast with lots of fluttering flute, a classic Brazilian song 7. (5:01) Shir - moderate; deliberate sounding, "shir" means conference in Somali 8. (4:08) The Anthem - very percussive in feel with lots of beat-boxing (a form of vocal percussion) 9. (4:20) BRB - more beat-boxing with mellow strings at times, fun sci-fi feel 10. (4:10) Now - moderate; alternating pulsing sound with a simple melody in between 11. (8:39) Bacchanale From Sampson And Delilah - interesting with such a light crew but lacks energy and ends up plodding along (Saint-Saëns) |
