Heavy, roaring, sludgy proto-punk from Austin in the vein of The Stooges, Death, MC5. Straightforward, with no big surprises—just a tight set of great amped-up rock ‘n’ roll tunes, perfect for blasting while drinking beer on the couch in your front yard. (+ they’re great live—almost stole the show from Thee Oh Sees when they opened.) Favorites: 1, 2, 5, 7 (8 in safe harbor only). FCC WARNING: 4, 6, 8. 1. *(3:42)—Fast, relentless, beefy—hell yeah. End fades into next track. 2. *(3:55)—Medium-fast, just a bit less high-energy as the previous track. There’s a harmonica. 3. (2:54)—Fast, reckless, hard partying boogie. 4. (7:57)—FCC OBSCENE. 5. *(6:47)—70s hard rock epic, guitar solos and all. Mostly slow, save for a bridge. 6. (4:27)—FCC (multiple f***s). Slow, dark, heavy metal riffage. 7. *(2:50)—Mid-tempo, bouncy, polemical. Bashing drums, gang vocals. 8. *(4:09)—FCC (bats***). Fast, ripping closer. About people telling you, “don’t worry,” even when there are so many reasons why “we’re all screwed”—I can sympathize. | ||
