The Len Price 3—Nobody Knows Review by Luis A. Apolaya The trio from the UK’s Medway Delta gives satisfying collection of power pop often reminiscent of Britpop. Lots of catchy riffs and choruses, pretty much everything you would look for in a fun pop group. Recommended: 1, 2, 7, 11. RIYL Blur, Oasis, the Romantics. **1. (2:32) Fast mid-tempo, driving guitar riff, goofy chorus, sounds like an Oasis rocker, could soon be used for music in a commercial. *2. (2:59) Mid-tempo, psychedelic organ riff, song could have fit in the time the Zombies were at their peak. 3. (1:57) Upbeat, opens up with chords reminiscent of the Romantics, you’ll get tired of anyone saying “my granddad Jim” after this song. *4. (2:46) Mid-tempo, Beatlesque (vocalist sounds like Lennon), longing and melancholy. *5. (2:43) Sitar noise beginning then becomes upbeat, frustrated and belligerent, vocalist now sounds like a pissed off Liam Gallagher. *6. (3:43) Peppy, happy-go-lucky cadence, contrasts nicely with the rather morbid lyrics, contains brief baroque pop contributions. *7. (1:51) Fast, sudden start, loud and proud guitar work, rock-and-roll feel. 8. (2:33) Mid-tempo, vocalist sounds like early 70’s Bowie, song about naughty parents. 9. (1:55) Fast mid-tempo, loud chords, a rocker for outdoor music festivals 10. (3:17) Mid-tempo, optimistic and very much a pop song *11. (3:32) Mellow and relaxing, makes you feel like you’re walking down by the park and nothing at all is going wrong, also suggestive of music for commercials. 12. (2:00) Fast mid-tempo, fuzzy vocals, loud chords, same melody as first track. 13. (4:05) Mid-tempo, comment on the sacrifices people make for science |
