Fully-bearded, wandering, eerie, electric desert psych-folk. I'm not sure if James Jackson Toth aka Wooden Wand does have a full beard, but as is the case with most of his releases, he offers something pretty different from earlier 2013 release Blood Oaths of the New Blues. Still bluesy, but buzzing electric guitars lead the way on every track; very full sound, rhythmic. Fem backing vox on all but 4,7. Repetition is fairly frequent and used well, built on.

RIYL: Magnolia Electric Co., MV & EE, M. Gira, Red House Painters, Giant Sand
All tracks recommended.

1 (6:38) Hazy, plodding; turns into slow guitar jam
2 (6:05) Foot-stomping, slow, bluesy; chilling guitar sounds, ghostly M backing vox
3 (2:59) Floats along on buzzy countrified riffs, lots of "ahhh"s
4 (4:38) Dark, catchy rumbling riffs; desert echoes, rings, and cracks abound. The "single"?
5 (8:50) Slowly drifts in until breaking open at 5:30, goosebump-inducing solo, final 1:30 of cooldown
6 (2:02) Short acoustic interlude, electric hums in background
7 (8:14) Loud, noisy, foreboding. "McDonald's on the moon... Starbucks at the Wailing Wall"
