Lestrygonian Reviewed 2013-08-21 | ||
Gorgeous modular synth and organ experiments. Narcotic layers of analog drone in the vein of Roedelius or Conrad Schnitzler with the minimalism of Terry Riley or La Monte Young. An absolute master of his craft, Schlienz also holds a day job at an opera company in Stuttgart. He told me, “during the day I work with so many notes, when I get home I just want to relax and hear only one.” Drone on, folks. All tracks splendid, the longer the better. 1. (9:53) Gentle wobbling phased-out washes of organ and synth, brooding and mystical 2. (5:17)Twinkling melodies, an icy ambient sprawl emerges 3. (7:54) Lovely, hypnotic tones drifting off into space. Sort of like a slowed-down loop of the first three seconds of the Star Trek theme song 4. (12:15) Drifting, dreamy, chill—all those other adjectives that mean the same thing. Eerie alien spacecraft vibes. 5. (3:21) Looped, plunking rhythms distorted through a spring reverb 6. (8:10) Blissful floating tones with some chirping satellite transmissions |
