Folky, guitar-centric space-out indie rock. Excellent production work from John Agnello, with Vile turning slightly more toward his classic rock influences. Intelligent, introspective songwriting, with a lot about the psychological downsides of touring. All songs great, but generally longer = better. -Andy **1 - (9:31) Neil Young ballad on vicodin *2 - (3:56) sharp Big Star riff + cowbell; slow rocker; mentions Moon Duo 3 - (7:42) (~FCC - lyrics say "fog" but sounds like "fuck") upbeat electronic percussion; hazy pop 4 - (6:20) crawling riff, mopey but driving 5 - (3:25) relatively upbeat, catchy indie rock *6 - (5:09) stabbing riff/melody breaks suddenly into mystical plod *7 - (8:04) camera-flies-over-the-Rockies kind of folky guitar meditation, pretty 8 - (4:47) upbeat weird pop; Oh Sees-style yelps make it stand out 9 - (3:22) familiar KV riff over roaring bed, intense but wistful 10 - (6:30) cool synth stuff at beginning and end; midtempo space-out *11 - (10:26) simple, mellow ballad with female backing vox | ||
