INDIE SOFT ROCK. Singer-songwriter Laura Weinbach is accompanied by guitars, bass, drums, keys, and strings. (The violin & cello players are also on the recent CD by Judgement Day.) This CD was released in December; many of the songs have a winter or Christmas theme with an ironic or jaded outlook.
No FCC issues.
* Mid-slow. Gentle ballad with sad lyric, pretty singing. Bell-like guitar arpeggio, add’l layered guitars, minimal bass & drums, orchestral strings. (3:37)
** Mid-tempo. Interesting & creative. Sounds like a wound-up music box. Good work on violin, cello, and xylophone. Catchy rhythm. (3:08)
* Mid-tempo. Hazy, dreamy effect. Gentle acoustic guitar, violin, keys, glockenspiel. (3:36)
Slow, gentle instrumental with guitar, violin, and cello. (0:32)
Mid-tempo. Childish singing (everyone got toys but me). Music box accompaniment again. (1:36)
Slow. Sounds like a classic old Xmas song (by Mel Torme, eg) except lyrics are anti-Xmas. (3:53)
Slow. Unsubstantial picking exercise on solo acoustic guitar. (0:31)
* Slow. Sexy chanteuse-style singing, backed by easy-going hollow-body guitar & soft strings. (3:25)
* Slow. Like a jazz/pop ballad of the 40s or 50s. Very nice singing. A slightly schmaltzy but pretty good instrumental bridge with hollow-body jazz guitar and strings. (4:10)
Slow. Breathy high vocal. Dreamy, mellow song, accompanied by piano, guitar, bass, strings. (4:21)
* Mid-tempo. A child is protagonist again. Singer accompanies self with ukulele & whistling. (1:30)
