Limo: EP Label: We Are
Berlin-based DJ Agaric's label, We Are Records, has been on the forefront of really innovative and incredibly groovy music. I think this release by Limo is absolutely stellar. Limo's sound features richly layered synths and some really trippy effects, but he also knows how to lay down a good beat. His tracks range from a slammin' tech-house banger (#1) "Get Back" to a completely different tempo-change in a broken-beat/UK-garage groove (#4) "Kayak". There are two good deep-house tracks in between. All tracks are great but I did like the end-pieces best (#1 & #4).
1. "Get Back" - Fabulous tech-house with shots of acid. Punchy, energetic tempo, tasty little synth loops, nice analog bass, and some neat little percussive effects.
2. "New Sol" - Airy and fluttering deeper instrumental house, nice synth sequences. Great stuff, you can't go wrong.
3. "Coffee Pot" - Great bassline here on this richly-layered synth-driven deep-house track. Good for chillin' out or the dancefloor.
4. "Kayak" - Out-there broken-beat stripped-apart track, with a female vocal sample coming through halfway. Rich synths again, but I love the slower pace to this one. Wow, this is so cool.
