CHAISE LOUNGE: A Very Chaise Lounge Christmas Modern Songbook, 2012 HOLIDAY – This fun retro act follows up on the very fine “Insomnia” album with a ten-pack of Christmas songs, a mix of snappy originals and less-covered classics. Appealing vocals and a nice mix of vintage jazz, early rock, and pop stylings. All songs clean, of course. Fo’s Picks: 1, 2, 3, 6, 8 1. 2:54 – 1960s bounce with a touch of rockabilly 2. 2:55 – nice relaxed original: slinky horns and a winking delivery 3. 2:53 – snappy, uptempo rework of “Mister Sandman” 4. 3:30 – folksy traditional carol with acoustic guitar & accordion 5. 4:11 – original ballad, intimate and tender with an icy sparkle 6. 3:43 – very cute bouncy ditty… everyone loves a snow day! 7. 2:42 – sweet bossa nova version of a 1950s novelty hit 8. 2:07 – swinging hepcat cha-cha, lots of goofy retro-slang 9. 3:01 – standard carol picks up an easy swing rhythm 10. 2:36 – obscure traditional carol, just piano, bass & vocal [ Fo ] - 8 December 2012 | ||
