Elon: Kolekti EP Label: Resolute Label

Considering the devastation that Hurricane Sandy wrought on the people of New York, I have to congratulate Elon for putting out this EP on his NYC record label appropriately named "Resolute".

This release contains some fine house music by some highly-regarded names in the NYC scene, and the collaborations remind us all of the importance of unity. The result: An excellent title track "Kolekti" (#1) that reminds us of how "we can only do this together". "Mondo" (#2) and "Juntos" (#3) are also great tracks in the same spirit. All tracks are great, but those three are my favorites. I wish Elon & all his fellow New Yorkers the best and I will proudly play this in California...

1. "Kolekti": Great title track - a vibrant disco-bass-laden house track that builds up to Joe Le Groove's vocal chorus - "we can only do this together…" I can't imagine a better song for our times coming out of NYC right now.
2. "Mondo": Beautiful deep house. Stripped down to essentials, a thumpin' beat and a deep dubby bassline. Wonderful fluid melodies. This is a great remix by one of the legends of techno/house out of NYC - Alexi Delano.
3. "Juntos": Warm & organic. Vibrant synths and pads, catchy & groovy bassline, lush & bright. Charming and catchy.
4. "At You": Deep soulful house. Joe Le Groove supplies the R&B infused vox, and a deep funky bassline kicks. Warm chimes and spacey synths througout. Good stuff.
