ROBERT THACKER: “Can of Music” – Trio play jazzy keyboards, sax, flute, guitar and percussion. Develop myriad of moods. Prefer instrumentals to tracks with vocals, although Track #4 is funny. Love the Sax!!! Overall, an enjoyable CD.
Personal Faves: 3, 7, 5, 1, 2. -- Sunshine, January 2013
**** 1) “No Home On The Range” – Strange jungle sounds … animal noises … stormy weather. Stealthy tip-toeing. Flute somewhat reminiscent of Jethro Tull. Interesting subtle percussion. Dramatic excitement. Kind of kewl vibe. (6:17)
**** 2) “Bird” – Island Vacation Happy-go-lucky vocals. Where’s my Pina Colada??? Almost too cheerful! Should be done by Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reefer Band. Good sax. Some DisneyLand Tiki Room bird calls. (4:19)
***** 3) “Hello” – Fun, moving rhythms. Flute, sax, bells, keyz. Jazzy, upbeat, moving music. Happy, uplifting, frolicking jazz. Instrumental. (3:42)
*** 4) “Sushi” – Asian restaurant start, with a beat. Ridiculous vocals, all about “love my sushi”!!! As if Sushi is the best reward in life! Kind of funny. (5:02)
**** 5) “Dr. Jam” – Smooth jazzy. Cool beat. “Riders On The Storm” meet Jan Hammer. Upbeat Instrumental. (4:47)
*** 6) “Electric Teardrops” -- Sounds like flight ready for takeoff. Airy, floating. Odd, eery vocals.Sultry sax. “Electric teardrops” – what the Heck are those???!! (3:53)
***** 7) “Quicksilver” – Swirly, soaring keyz and sax. Very jazzy. Instrumental. (3:30)
*** 8) “Cool Running” – Sappy lyrics. Upbeat little ditty. (3:57)
*** 9) “Voo Doo Woman” – Spy-like cadence. Cool beat. Silly lyrics again. A little vocal harmony. (5:10)
