NEOTROPIC: “Equestrienne Remixes” – Interesting use of sound effects, mixed with “real” instruments and breathy female focals. Various styles of musical expression. Not my typical choice of music, but unusually fun. Personal Faves: 2, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 -- Sunshine, September 2012

1) “Celaphane Road (A Dancing Beggar Remix)” – Clock winding . . . trumpet-like salute. Subtle female vox. Intensity increases. Cello adds to vibe. Sound gets bigger, then diminishes back to clock winding sound. 5:12)
2) “Sirens Sister (Panorama)" – Busty’s Housekeeping Mix)” – Synthetic birdlike noises. Snoring with snares. Silence. Ethereal. Uncertain beats. Windchimes. Strange female vox. Snoring with snares. Silence. Ethereal. Uncertain beats. Windchimes. After a minute, rhythm picks up a groove. Gets kind of dancey. Then disappears into the abyss. (6:32)
3) “Knucklebones (The Grim Life – Dark Corners Mix)” – Sounds dangerous! A subterranean dungeon perhaps. Lyrics “I am afraid” fits the mood. (4:00)
4) “Sometimes (Ladyhusk Remix)” – Slow, spooky start. Subtle beats emerge. Halloween haunted house perhaps. Would be groovy played LOUD! (4:32)
5) “Tall Fences (deaflemon – Electric Fence Remix)” – Good beats and grooves. I would play this one! (4:01)
6) “Love & Hate (DJ Stephen B)” – Echoes, and rhythmic background. Gets moving. Then develops a slower, surreal vibe, with swirly synths. (5:58)
7) “Party Fears & The Alcohol Loves You (Small Fish with Spine Remix)” – Kewl Beatz. Dischordant, eery female vocals with harmony. Gets a little creepy. Frightening jungle feeling. (5:58)
8) “Sirens Sister (Georg Hekt Remix)” – Windchimes and windy waves. Rich background vocals, accompanied by guitar and bass. Knocking. Becomes more robust as it rolls along. Eery groove. (4:47)
9) “Hezbollah Girl (10sui Remix)” – Chaos. Traffic jam. Then fast beats. Dance to this. Sparse vocals. (6:14)
10) “Party Fears (Dub I.D. Re-stitch Remix)” – Immediate harmonic vocals. Surprising reggae beat. Dubby. (5:57)
11) “Muddy Water (Howpee Remix)” – Ship’s horn or lighthouse. Slow, ploddish. (5:15)
12) “Sirens Sister (Minor Blow Remix)” – Middle Eastern feeling. Different groove than #2 or #8. (4:10)
13) “In These Days (Deltason Remix)” – Sort of like a movie opening with deep vocals. (5:10)
14) “Carpet (bonus track)” – For whom does the bell toll??? Footsteps approach. Get me out of this place, please! Heartfelt vocal harmony comes to the rescue. Then, squeaky electronic noises join in. (4:38)
