Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2007-02-07
Low-fi (4-track?) experimentalism, looped low toned synths, “found sounds” samples, dark and creepy. Not overtly noisey, more ambient and trippy. Slowed tape pieces, heavy treatments. Recommended if you like Neglected Receptors, Einsturzende Neubauten, Hunting Lodge, Throbbing Gristle.

FCC clean. My picks: 2, 4, 7

1) quiet creepy synth with screamed spoken word and samples, looped
2) organ, low tones sustained, grows slightly noisey at end
3) lowfi, sparse low end synth tones, creepy strange samples
4) low tones, looped, some slowed voice and drone guitar slowed down, dark, a pounding beat appears late
5) slowed drums, bass tones, droney and drugged
6) electrobeats heavily treated, low-fi, ~1 left it shifts to low fi rock beat
7) old school industrial noise, rudimentary beats and overdriven instruments
8) pulsing analog synth, percussion and tones join
9) brief, pump organ loop/snippet
10) very quiet 20 second start, then a simple rock beat with some megaphone sounding voice, minimal bass
11) 7 minutes of fun with an analog synth
