San Francisco’s very own underscores returns with another whirlwind album of pop punk / hyperpop / acoustic bedroom strumming. A loud, expressive, and jumbled mashup-of-a coming of age album. Stylistically diverse is an understatement. 100 gecs is the obvious comparison (she opened for them on tour). Like 100 gecs, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense at first and you will probably have to explain to people why it doesn’t suck. Great stuff. RIYL: 100 gecs, Jane Remover, Girl Talk, Frost Children, Fraxiom FCC: 8, 10, 11 TRY: 1, 2, 9, 4, 5

1. Catchy, upbeat with a pop punk chorus. Interesting 8-bit melody as the bridge
2. Jumbly spoken word intro that slowly builds into a rompy 2010’s electro beat with bratty vocals
3. Slow, moody, minimal bedroom rock
4. Slow, emo ballad with cooed vocals depicting a fan pretending to be a rockstar
5. Fuzzed out rocker about growing up trans and the dangers of online groomers
6. Skippy midtempo with lots of TV samples and snippets of dubstep wobble
7. Fragile acoustic ballad
8. (FCC) High-energy scrambled pop about privilege and old money
9. Awesome long-form suite. Starts with a slamming metal intro transitions into a glitchy pop punk beat. Has a kinda wild country breakdown with a little ho-down action before a sick guitar solo. The last three minutes are a post-rock breakdown with a very quiet outro.
10. (FCC) Y2K era acoustic pop rock
11. (FCC) Strummy, anthemic, with great silky guest vocals
12. Moving Americana ballad about self-acceptance
13. Shorter edit of song #5
