Album Review

– General Description: Multi-instrumentalist and composer Sage Fisher (AKA Dolphin Midwives) says Liminal Garden “... changed as I made it. This album is about change, about finding beauty and acceptance in the fractured, broken and vulnerable places. It’s about integration, of all of my selves, of the natural world and technology, of all of the brokenness and imperfection and insecurity and fragility of being femme in a patriarchal society.”

Using her voice, singing bowls, a harp with a small array of effects pedals, and electronic processing — Fisher has made a charming, mostly tranquil-sounding work. Suitable for healing or as an ambient soundbed for non-stressful work.

– Track Reviews:

1. ***(4:29) Grass Grow - leisurely, breathy echoey and phased voice, airy and fairy-like
2. (5:22) Junglespell - a gently percolating harp that becomes a slow cascade but builds to distortion
3. ***(3:30) Castleshell - meandering plucking of the harp with electronic whispers
4. (2:01) Flux - fluttery sounds, fades and virtually ends at 1:54
5. (5:35) Temple IV - more soft plucking of the harp that transforms into a faster mechanical procession
6. (2:51) Mirror - leisurely, breathy echoey and phased manipulated voice
7. (4:22) Labyrinth I - interesting little melody pulsed forward and sounding accordian-like
8. ****(5:56) Temple V - repetitive graceful bells/gongs sounding and mixing with increasing percussion below
9. (3:53) Satya Yuga - pretty and gentle harp piece
10. (2:11) Iridesce - bloops and highly phased ghostly voice
