Molly burch’s First flower is a lovely album with lilting, grooving vocals and accompaniment with catchy lyricism. Recorded in Austin, tx, the artist has focused on perfecting ballad-type singing and songwriting which has evolved since her previous romantically focused album, “Please Be Mine,” to be more focused on who she is and her place in the world. Lovely, warm, vibrant. RIYL Francoise Hardy, Billie Holliday, Big Thief, Phoebe Bridgers, Angel Olsen FCC CLEAN favorites: 1, 2(!!!), 3, 8(!!), 11

1.Candy* (2:50) uptempo opener with trad. instrumentation and sunny day guitar strumming
2. Wild****(3:40) echo-y smokey vocals, groovy beat, beachy guitar sound...explores internal anxiety/self doubt about comparisons to her more impulsive/daring younger sister “i wish i was a wilder soul” my fav on the alb by far
3. Dangerous Place*(2:33) more beachy guitar, lovely vocals, uptempo
4. First Flower(3:24) song about new relationship, rly pretty layered vocals and more sunny guitar, “you...you are my man”
5.Next to me(2:28) sounds like the others above, but i think with more maracas in this one
6.Good behavior(4:03) much slower, sparser guitar really showcasing vocal ability here
7.Without You (2:45) more of a drum beat on this one, song about pining. Pretty, breathy vocals
8.To the Boys****(3:47) this is the other killer on this album… 3rd wave feminism bop complete with really lovely vocals and ballad style delivery
9.True love*(2:43) breakup song that sounds like it could be a love song...and probably is...uptempo with a bouncy carefree chorus
10.Nothing to Say(3:52) bit slower on this one, sparse guitar, focus on vocals esp on chorus
11.Every little thing** (5:22) “I’ve wooooooorn my body dooooown...i’m done” gorgeous slow ballad with glittering harp and legit insane vox
