Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2018-11-07
This could be described as experimental noise composed with a traditional jazz brass trio: Drums, bass, horns/woods. Elements of avante jazz inherently, however extra attention is paid to pushing the use of these instruments toward their trippy spacey potential. The results are quite excellent, proving that after the collapse of civilization as we know it, the EMP detonations, the power grid collapse, miscreants like me will still have their weird industrial experimental noise bands. That said, they do use effects, nice reverb, delay. But nothing we wont have when we return to the caves. All songs great, no vocals, all clear with the FCC overlords, the priests in the temples of syrinx.

1) (8:25) Four – begins sultry spacey with tribal tom drums, devolves into trippiness 2) (11:48) RBG – a near mechanical off time tape loop quality in the intro, then becomes very abstract improvisational disjunct, but midway an urgent tribal beat appears and it becomes a toe tapper, at least for a while 3) *(6:25) Index – starts with a trippy tone from horn and urgent subtle brushed drums, continues chill and trippy as hell, subdued almost ambient noise 4) (6:45) saxy song, wacky disjunct skronky feel 5) (12:21) Bends – spacey, improv meandering feel, excellent 6)* (8:56) chill big spacious start, builds slowly and dreamy but pretty intense at end
