Ever-eclectic Monterey-based musician Dave Holodiloff's latest projekt channels energy from Eastern Europe without the usual brass and guida for a lighter, airier feel; all tracks have pretty fast tempos; traditional melodies and rhythms have improvisational sections interspersed; Balkan music for 21st century California; all tracks are worth playing

NO FCC's (all instrumental); favorite tracks 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 10, 11, 13

**1—Kojak Cocek –4:29 – full of energy; makes you want to leap out of your seat and shake your booty!-- great mando and percussion, soulful violin, masterful piano; doesn't miss a beat

*2—Sedi Donka—4:02 – strings work together with percussion to produce a dance line you can almost visualize; nice percussion bridge together with synth drone that hits quarter tones

*3—Geamparale de la Babadag—5:07-- jazzy feel to this one; nice treble mando and piano interlude

4- Romanian Hora – 3:53-- mandolin virtuosity starts off; gypsy django feel to this one; nice violin solo

*5-Din Dobregea – 3:41-- another familiar dance number with fast violin melody; mysterious piano melody underneath for slightly dreamy bridge

6—Ivan na Donka –2:03-- a little slower and lighter with strings providing the beat

7—Kopanitsa – 2:25 – light and bouncy

*8-- St. Anne's Ratchenitsa – 2:47—Celtic-Balkan fusion where Dave set a Celtic tune to Bulgarian rhythm - watch out for serious repetition on the bridge part

9—Krivo Sadovsko Horo—3:59 – pretty doubling of mando and guitar

*10—Ratchenitsa – 3:47 – starts off a little slower – interesting take on this classic Bulgarian form-- strong piano part

**11--Kasap Havasi –4:27-- drums start off with bass line – nice back and forth melody with violin and mando; some cool syncopation with differing timbres and modes

12—Geamparale Medley –3:05-- Romanian dance with lots of fancy string work; fast;

*13—Gankino Horo –4:44-- minor/major keys --nice clapping-drum-violin bridge

14-Hora/Kolo Medley –2:58 – I love this particular dance; nice rendition

15—Cetvorno Oro –4:50-- very string oriented; pretty!
