Experimental. Electroacoustic “sound design”. Organic sources treated heavily, brings to mind works of Steve Reich and even Laurie Anderson. Minimalist Japanese artist, sounds academic, soundtrack’y, New Music, released on NYC primo avante label/store RVNG. From their website: ” The eleven pieces which form UkabazUmorezU dovetail meaningfully with the invented album title, roughly translating to “slow and steady wins the race.” Made up of recordings sourced and simulated from scenic locations in Japan, folk performances from various local regions, and Sugai’s tool kit of electronic synthesis, UkabazUmorezU evokes tranquil patience while never settling into a single style or still of sound for too long.”

1) (2:20 quiet, sparse, rather aquatic sounding synth notes, minimal 2) (2:49) layered echoed looping synth blips, tones 3) (3:00) very quiet, atmospheric field recording 4)* (4:38) drones with what sounds sorta like footsteps and cans, builds 5) (1:00) motor sorta sounding with cans 6)* (2:26) strange near vocalization sounds 7) (2:59) composed symphonic sound with woodwinds, new music feel 8) (2:47) denser avante feel, a lot going on 9) (1:23) soundtrackish, sparse 10)* (6:08) Steve Reichian looped treated voices, trippy dippy 11)* (3:53) plinky and synthy, multi-faceted and trippy
