The Molochs/America’s Velvet Glory. Indie rock constructed from a patchwork of influences—namely in 60s garage and psychedelic rock, as well as proto-punk. Deadpan vocal delivery with a melancholic sense of detachment (somewhat reminiscent of Lou Reed) are laid upon jangly guitar riffs, bright and at times haunting organ melodies as well as blues-y harmonica. Easily listenable all the way through, and appealing to a wide range of tastes as they mix and match elements of disparate genres of decades past in a catchy indie rock package. RIYL: Velvet Underground, Violent Femmes, Jonathan Richman, Pavement, Foxygen, Patti Smith, The Byrds. FCC: clean
