Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2017-01-12
Dark ambient experimental composed on guitar, treatments, subtle synths and sax (one track). Virtually instrumental except where a brief spoken poem appears in last track. Ranges from lush symphonic, near-new age ambience, to dark balms of distorto drone. Fans of Eno Budd and Sunn((O))) Earth alike will enjoy. Definitely a dark wash a la Swans, Current 93, et al. Meditation music for metal heads.

1)* (7:30) lovely distant guitar picking with dark ambience 2)* (40:58) quiet ambient minimal guitar slowly starts this, experimental sax joins, at 3:45 a Sunn distortion drone takes over, sax filters in and piece evolves denser with time 3) (7:24) a synth feel to a blissful drone 4) (10:20) a looping organic outdoors birds crickets feel to the noise, then a flutelike tone in simple guitar, New Age music for metal heads 5) (15:39) low drone to start, then dark sustained chords, strange swirling sounds, dark, low drone bridge midway, then a solo guitar jammy thing, fades quickly into next (play together for epicness?) 6)* (27:23) begins quiet out of previous, lovely hypnotic symphonic, grows dark swirling, at 10 min in a dark dramatic poem spoken in English, almost jarring as it's the only vocs so far, another verse appears a few min later
