“I Can Live Forever EP” The Wet Secrets
A six-piece alternative, dance-rock band from Edmonton, Alberta with a punky, bold in-your-face attitude and unusual instrumentation that includes stinging synths, bright brass, and the usual rock trappings. This EP has only four tracks and two have FCCs according to the label (although for the life of me I can’t hear it on Track 2 — and the lyric video was no help). The EP was released a year ago and the band released a full album this summer, but this is what we have, I guess.

Recommended: 1, 4. FCCs: 2, 3 (according to the label).

1. (3:49) I Can Swing a Hammer – Tom-tom driven alt-rock. Male lead vocals, backed by big rich harmonies that include all the band members. Really catchy and good. ****
2. (3:22) If I Was a Camera – Mesmerizing stop-and-go beat. Brassy and airy synths, with stingers. Prominent tambourine. FCC? (I can’t hear it.)
3. (2:50) Final Curtain for a Drama Queen – Frantic synth-rock. FCC: shit
4. (3:34) Quelle Surprise – Mellow synth swells, swirls and squiggles. Pulsing synth bass. Processed male lead vocals. Strong backing vocals. 1980s vibe. **
